April 16, 2018 – The Eastern Surfing Association will kick off its post-season championships with the 2018 Southeast Regional Surfing Championships presented by Surfer Dudes, Long Doggers and Florida Space Coast Office of Tourism this weekend at Paradise Beach Park in Melbourne Beach, Florida.  According to Swellinfo, the waves will be steadily increasing throughout the event.


This major surfing event will run Friday through Sunday, April 20-22, and will host competitors from all over the states of Florida, Alabama and Georgia.  There will be a live webcast on www.surfesa.org throughout the entire event and a featured recap video produced by Shoots Media.  Eastern Surf Magazine will be on the beach for photography.

The ESA is the largest amateur surfing organization in the world with 24 districts along the east coast of the United States, including the Great Lakes and Gulf Coast of Florida.  Surfers must compete in their local ESA districts gaining points to qualify to be invited to their respective regional events that are held each spring.  Finalists from the three ESA regional events may be invited to compete in the ESA’s largest event known as The Easterns which is held every September at Jennette’s Pier in Nags Head, North Carolina.

Along with watching some of the best amateur surfers in the nation, spectators will be treated to three fun days at the beach with ESA sponsors Surfer Dudes, Buddy by the Sea, Sharkbanz, Beach Gladiator, OluKai, Chum’s and Surfco Hawaii who will have tents, apparel, giveaways and products on the beach.  All ESA events are open to the public and offer a family-friendly atmosphere.  Surfer Dudes will be offering demos of their fun surf product specially designed for kids so be sure to come try them out!

Crom Equipment Rentals will be erecting the scaffolding on Thursday with the event beginning on Friday at 7:30 am.  The ESA is bringing back the famous All-Star Tag Team competition on Saturday at noon which will pit local ESA districts against each other for claiming rights, and a cool trophy.  New for 2018, there will be a competitors’ luncheon on the beach Saturday from 12-1pm.  Food will be provided free to competitors and $10 for others who wish to grab a meal without leaving the beach.

The event schedule and heat sheets will be posted this week, and all updates will be posted on the event and ESA’s FB pages throughout the weekend.  Be sure to mark your calendars for the next regional events that will follow the Southeast Regionals.  The Mid-Atlantic Regionals presented by The Outer Banks Visitors Bureau and Surfer Dudes will be held May 4-6, 2018 at Jennette’s Pier in Nags Head, North Carolina, followed by the Northeast Regionals presented by Surfer Dudes will run May 18-20, 2018 in Belmar, New Jersey.
