The ESA has over 8000 members. The family oriented programs promote a healthy and active lifestyle. It is not uncommon to find two or three generations of the same family involved as members still actively competing in our program.

I don’t know what district I am in
Search the ESA map for your location and join the district under which area you want to surf.
How many contests do I have to surf in to qualify for my regional event?
Invitations for ESA regional events are based on your district ranking. The more ESA local events you participate in, the more points you will obtain and may increase your likelihood of receiving an invitation.
Can I surf an ESA event before joining to see if I like it?
Unfortunately, due to liability reasons, every competitor must be an active ESA member to participate.
How do I know what age division(s) I can enter?
Age divisions are determined by your age on January 1 of the following year, since local ESA events qualify for the next year's regional and Easterns competitions. For instance, in the 2025 season, your division is based on your age as of January 1, 2026.
How long is membership good for?
Your ESA membership is good for 12 months from your time of joining or renewing. For example, if join in November, your membership will be active until November of the following year.
How do I become an ESA member?
Go to [Liveheats](https://liveheats.com) and type Eastern Surfing Association in the search menu. Select your ESA district and become a member!
How much is membership?
ESA membership is $75 per individual, or $150 per family (must be immediate family).
